When the piping system needs to be emptied of residual product, a so-called “pig” is pushed through the pipes in the flow direction, leading the last product to be tapped. Product that would otherwise be flushed directly into the drain.
The pigging system effectively limits product and resource waste, eliminating the need for long water rinses and mixing phases in production. Pigging can be advantageously used in:
