Pigging Principle
Many products are difficult to remove with water rinsing alone, such as ground meat, liver pate, and fruit concentrates. The pigging principle involves forcing a projectile (called a “pig”) through a pipeline. Because the pig’s diameter is slightly larger than the internal diameter of the pipe, it forces the product through while cleaning the pipe simultaneously.
We have specially designed our pigs to be hygienic, efficient, and thorough. The pigging system is ideal for product transfer, product recovery, and cleaning, recovering more than 99% of the product.
Influx’s pigs can easily move through bends and require only low propulsion pressure. The propelling medium for the pig can be water, sterile air, nitrogen, or the next product in case of product changeover.
Traceable Pigs
Our pigs are magnetic, making them traceable in pipes using a specially designed pig detector. Since our pig detector is mounted externally on the pipes, it’s quick, easy, and cost-effective to add them to an existing piping system.
Besides tracking the pigs, a tracking system enables semi- or full automation of the system. This will provide a noticeable increase in efficiency, productivity, and safety.
